Beautiful polychrome woodblock print of vertical large oban (大判) format made by the artist Kasamatsu Shiro (笠松紫浪) and depicting a kneeling geisha (芸妓) performing the traditional tea ceremony, one of the classical arts of Japanese refinement.

The work, entitled Chanoyu (茶の湯), literally "hot water for tea", was printed for the first time, by the Unsodo (芸艸堂) publishing house, in 1954 and is presented here in a later edition reprinted from the original woodblocks.

The print on Japanese washi paper (和紙), on the left margin of which we also read the seals of the carver Nagashima Michio (長嶋道男) and the printer Takenaka Seihachi (竹中清八), is in very good condition.
