Interesting original woodblock print, in horizontal yatsugiri (八つ切り) format, most likely dating back to the first half of the 19th century and depicting a couple of young lovers frightened by a bolt of lightning that surprises them during a nocturnal meeting.

The author of the work accompanies the depiction of this unusual and rare scene with the ironic caption, visible inside the black inset, "An unexpected gift from the sky!" (もつけのさいわい).

The print on Japanese washi paper (和紙), despite the right signs of aging and the presence of some tiny holes, is in overall good condition.
