Refined polychrome woodblock print made in September 1902 by the artist Mizuno Toshikata (水野年方) and depicting a student, dressed in a typical school uniform of the Meiji period (明治時代) composed of a hakama (袴) skirt worn over a kimono with furisode (振袖) "swinging sleeves", while adorning her hair with a flower.

The work, produced by the Hakubunkan (博文館) publishing house and entitled "Looking at Chrysanthemums" (菊見), was made as the kuchi-e (口絵) frontispiece of vol. 8 n. 12 of the famous literary magazine Bungei Kurabu (文芸倶楽部).

The print on Japanese washi paper (和紙), despite the right signs of aging, a couple of small holes on the left side of the sheet and a partial trimming of the margins, is in overall good condition.
