Beautiful polychrome woodblock print, original cover of part 2, vol. 1 (二編上) of the book "Snow, Moon and Flowers: A New Story of Three Amusements" (雪月花三遊新話), written by Shinoda Senka (篠田仙果) and illustrated by the artist Utagawa Yoshiharu (歌川芳春).

The work, depicting one of the protagonists of the story, probably the beautiful Oran (おらん), holding a katana (刀) inside the precincts of a shrine, was produced in May 1879 by the publisher Yamamura Kinzaburo (山村金三郎), owner of Sanshodo (山松堂).

The print on Japanese washi paper (和紙), despite the right signs of aging, is in good condition.
