SOLD
Refined original woodblock print of the kuchi-e (口絵) type, made as the frontispiece of a novel by the writer Fukuchi Ochi (福地桜痴) entitled "Loyalty: Oyasu" (忠義お安) and depicting, in the foreground, the young protagonist of the story while being led on the street, under arrest and with her hands tied behind her back, by a samurai. The work, by the artist Takeuchi Keishu (武内桂舟), is taken from the sixth issue of the literary magazine Meiji Bunko (明治文庫), published in January 1894 by the Hakubunkan (博文館) publishing house. The print on Japanese washi paper (和紙), despite the right signs of aging, a partial trimming of the margins and the presence of some gluing residues visible on the back, is in good condition.
