Fascinating polychrome woodblock print of vertical large oban (大判) format depicting the courtesan Yamato (倭) of the house of pleasure Daikokuya (大黒屋) under the flowering branches of a cherry tree in the night of the Shin Yoshiwara (新吉原) district.

The work, made around the middle of the 19th century, is signed, in the lower lef, "Ipposai Yoshifuji ga" (一鵬斎芳藤画) that is by the artist Utagawa Yoshifuji (歌川芳藤), a pupil of the famous Utagawa Kuniyoshi (歌川国芳).

The rare print on Japanese washi paper (和紙), despite the right signs of aging and the presence of wrinkles and folds as well as small imperfections in particular on the left margin, is in fair condition.
