Compelling polychrome woodblock print of vertical large oban (大判) format depicting, beyond the threads of a cobweb, an actor playing the role of a tsuchigumo (土蜘蛛), that is a giant "earth spider", a yokai (妖怪) creature of Japanese folklore.

The print was made, in a period between 1922 and 1926, by the artist Tsukioka Kogyo (月岡耕漁) and is taken from the series "One Hundred Noh Plays" (能楽百番), produced by the publisher Daikokuya Heikichi (大黒屋平吉), owner of Shojudo (松寿堂).

The woodcut on Japanese washi paper (和紙), despite the right signs of aging, is in overall very good condition.
