Elegant original woodblock print of the kuchi-e (口絵) type made by the artist Mizuno Toshikata (水野年方) as the frontispiece of the novel "Sencho no tsuma" (船長の妻), that is "The Ship's Captain's Wife", by the novelist and journalist Emi Suiin (江見水蔭).

The work, printed in July 1899, is taken from vol. 5 n. 9 of Bungei Kurabu (文芸倶楽部), the famous literary magazine published from 1895 to 1933 by the Hakubunkan (博文館) publishing house.

The print on Japanese washi paper (和紙), despite the right signs of aging including slight stains, is in overall good condition.
