Evocative triptych of woodblock prints made by the artist Utagawa Kuniteru II (二代目歌川国輝), talented pupil of the famous Utagawa Kunisada (歌川国貞), and entitled "View of Yokohama in Kanagawa Province on the Tokaido Road" (東海道神名川横浜風景). It is dawn and, along the famous connecting route, the locals prostrate themselves at the passage of a "daimyo gyoretsu" (大名行列), that is the long procession of a feudal lord, coming from the city of Edo (江戸).

The work, produced in February 1863 by the publisher Kikuya Ichibei (菊屋市兵衛), owner of Kinkodo (金幸堂), and by the engraver Koizumi Kanegoro (小泉兼五郎), is taken from a series entitled "The Road to the Capital, Spring 1863" (文久三春の都路).

The precious prints on Japanese washi paper (和紙), show the right signs of aging including slight stains and some thinning points, as well as small woodworm holes and slight horizontal central fold marks.
