SOLD
Important original woodblock print of vertical large oban (大判) format, produced around 1825 by the publisher Moritaya Hanzo (森田屋半蔵), made by the artist Keisai Eisen (渓斎英泉) and depicting the famous courtesan Yosooi (粧ひ) of the house of pleasure Matsubaya (松葉屋). In front of the woman, who is holding a kiseru (煙管) pipe, we see an elegant tabakobon (煙草盆) tobacco tray; behind her a refined byobu (屏風) screen depicting a snowy view of Mount Fuji (富士山). The precious print, despite the proper aging of the Japanese washi paper (和紙) and some signs of horizontal folding, is in overall good condition.
