Interesting original woodblock print made in the Kaei era (嘉永). The observation point is that of the bridge over the Nihonbashi River (日本橋川), the eastern terminus of the famous Kisokaido (木曾街道) and Tokaido (東海道) connecting routes. In the upper part, the Edo Castle (江戸城) and Mount Fuji (富士山).

The work, printed in a period between 1848 and 1855 by the publisher Tamaya Bungyo (玉屋文魚), is taken from an illustrated shunga (春画) book entitled "The Glans of the Stations of the Tokaido Road" (東海道駅路の鈴口) and made by the artist Matsuno Taiboku (松廼大木) in collaboration with Rentai Inshi Bobo Sanjin (戀岱淫士慕々山人), pseudonym of the famous writer and journalist Kanagaki Robun (仮名垣魯文).

The print, despite the obvious signs of aging of the Japanese washi paper (和紙), is in good overall condition.
